I Pray Every Day. Why Is Nothing Changing?

I Pray Every Day. Why Is Nothing Changing?

You pray. You ask honestly. You wait.

And when nothing outside changes, a difficult thought appears:

Is anyone listening?

Maybe the problem is not that prayer does nothing. Maybe we are only looking for change in one place — outside us.

We pray for the person to change, the situation to improve, the fear to disappear, the answer to arrive. But while we are waiting, something is also happening within us.

Real prayer has a strange honesty to it.

For a moment, you stop performing. You admit what you are afraid of, what you cannot control, what you desperately want to hold on to.

Perhaps prayer begins there.

Not as a transaction with the Divine, but as a place where you finally hear yourself clearly.

This does not mean that every prayer will give you the result you ask for. Life does not always move according to our plan.

But maybe prayer is not only asking:

“Please change this for me.”

Maybe sometimes it is also asking:

“Help me see what this is changing in me.”

The outer situation may still take time.

But perhaps you are seeing more clearly, reacting less blindly, accepting one truth you were avoiding, or finding the courage to take a step you could not take earlier.

That too is change.

Quiet change is still change.

So perhaps the question is not only:

Why is nothing changing?

But also:

Am I looking in the right place?

Sit With This

  • Am I praying for a result, or from a place of presence?
  • What has quietly changed in me, even if my situation looks the same?
  • What would it feel like to trust the timing I cannot see?
